Competition, Hufelandstraße, München

In August 2020, Eike Becker_Architekten participated in the competition "Hochpunkt und Platzfläche an der Hufelandstraße" in Munich.

The aim of eb_a's design was to create a high-rise building with a new square on Hufelandstraße that would invigorate the urban landscape.

The high-rise building was designed as a cityscape-defining element. It was conceptualized to set a striking example for the neighborhood and create a square that brings people together.

The high point's main uses were designed as a hotel with an additional long-stay concept, a publicly accessible roof terrace with a panorama bar, an office space with co-working areas and conference rooms, restaurant and commercially used spaces, and a gym.

The open space concept was created in collaboration with landscape architects and urban planners TERRABIOTA. Two central themes characterize the design for this open space on Hufelandstrasse: on the one hand, it contains generous multifunctional paved areas in front of the buildings. In contrast, a greened area at the center of the square evokes the tranquility of nature, consituting a climate oasis in the midst of this dense urban development.
