An Interview with Eike Becker in “wettbewerbe aktuell”

In the latest issue of wettbewerbe aktuell (07|26), Eike Becker answers the questionnaire for the interview series. He discusses the most important piece of advice he’s received in his career, from Klaus Humpert: “If cities are in order, society is in order, too.” He also talks about what he absolutely cannot stand: inaction, complacency, and nepotism. And he discusses the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung—how much courage to disrupt can a publishing house that has stood for continuity for decades actually tolerate?

“The structures stand there, without nostalgia—rational, abstract, intellectual. But they are shifted in different directions. Like building blocks, seemingly at random, they don’t quite fit on top of one another. It was important to me to give this large building something doubtful, imperfect, and disruptive.”
