What makes a district future-ready? Beyond its architecture, it is the spaces in between. The places for gathering, movement, recreation, and interaction.
At Site C2 in Heidelberg's Bahnstadt, open space is central to the design. Located between Heidelberg Central Station, Czerny Bridge, and Czerny Square, the new mixed-use district is designed to bring together vibrant public spaces and climate resilience.
Developed in partnership with TOPOTEK 1, the site plan illustrates how pathways, courtyards, rooftops, and trees come together as an integrated system.
Here, blue-green infrastructure is not an added feature but the foundation of vibrant urban spaces, incorporating stormwater retention, shading, green roofs, new gathering areas, and welcoming courtyards that support everyday life, connection, and recreation.
Site C2 is envisioned as an open and connected district. A place that connects the city and landscape, public and community, movement and rest.
The project is being developed in collaboration with DEUTSCHE WOHNWERTE GmbH & Co. KG.
