Eike Becker_Architekten got the permission for the first construction phase of their large-scale project at the "Kaiserlei" in Offenbach.
An ensemble of buildings with 101.000 m2 gross building area (60.000 m2 for apartments and 40.000 m2 for offices) is being planned. A total of 840 apartements are to be created as well as offices, a hotel, gastronomy, retail spaces, a daycare center and a public swimming pool.
The striking office high-rices with up to 23 floors that have been built in 1073 and were consideres as one of the most important locations of the "Kraftwerkunion" (union of power statoins) that used to develop power plants. Since 2004 the buildings are not in use anymore.
Now Eike Becker_Architekten are planning a conversion of the two existing buildings into furnished small apartments. All of the other buildings at this area will be replaced by new buildings. A public space will be designed in cooperation with Topotek 1.
